Bob Beckle of Fox News’ “The Five” apologized on Monday for his ‘Chinamen’ comment that he made last Friday.

Beckle’s comment on Friday was a response to a New York Times article about Chinese hackers hacking into the Office of Personnel Management system.

According to the article, the hackers were trying to access information on individuals who have a high security clearance.

“As usual, we bring them over here and teach a bunch of Chinamen—Chinese people—how to do computers and then they go back to China and hack into us,” said Beckle.

Beckle’s comment resulted in some like California State Senator Ted Lieu, who’s running for retiring Rep. Henry Waxman’s (D-CA) seat, to call for Beckle’s resignation.

During his apology on Monday, Beckle stressed that he didn’t intend to offend anyone with his comments but that he wasn’t going to apologize for the alleged crimes that China has committed against the U.S.

Beckle said, “I made some comments last week about Chinese people, which apparently upset some people and for which I apologize. However, my comments will not be—I do not apologize for the things I said about China. And I won’t go into the litany of it now because there are too many China apologists in this country.”

Beckle added that he believes that China poses a threat to the national security of the United States and to the viability of the business community: “But I will continue to warn the American people about how dangerous China is to the U.S. security and to our business community. And but to those who were offended I apologize. I do not apologize to the Chinese government or for their habits or for their murders or anything else.”
